นายสมเกียรติ อ่อนวิมล โพสต์ข้อความใน Facebook "Somkiat Onwimon (สมเกียรติ อ่อนวิมล)" แปลบทสนทนาระหว่าง พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ชินวัตร อดีตนายกรัฐมนตรี กับ Tom Plate ในหนังสือ 'Conversations with Thaksin - From Exile to Deliverance: Thailand’s Populist TycoonTells His Story'โดยหยิบเอาข้อความระหว่างการสนทนาระหว่างพ.ต.ททักษิณกับนาย Tom Plate ระบุว่า 'โศกนาฏกรรมตากใบ: เป็นแผน "พวกเขา ที่จะล้มผม" โดยมีข้อความดังนี้
Thaksin: "Most of the people like me, but in the forth year, I got hit with too many challenges, had too much work, and then they were trying to kick me out. So they created a lot of problems, including the PAD---the Yellow Shirts---started gathering in my fourth year. I knew this."

Tom: "In the south?" He is referring to the now-infamous tragedy when scores of Muslim ‘extremists (or ‘protestors’) were packed into a police truck to be taken to custody and died of suffocation.

The officers informed me that [when the operation started] they believed that I had a bad attitude toward Muslim, but one year after the coup d’etat, after they investigated, they began to understand that the tragic and embarrassing incident was part of the plot to topple me."

"And so, after I won my second term [in 2005], the street protests started in intensify, so that made me feel even more pressure, and because of all the hard work, I sometimes buckled under the pressures. I maybe showed my ugly side."

He didn’t mean maybe , of course.
